My name is Michel Grenier, I am a photographer and musician. Photography is for me an outlet, it serves to evacuate my emotions.

I practice all forms of photography, but what connects me most is the portrait. The social aspect inherent to the profession of a portraitist I like a lot. I mostly try to highlight the people I photograph, which explains the sobriety of my prints. I am not a very directive image taker, and I really like to leave some latitude to the subjects. In a way, I take what they want to give me. As most models are not stingy with their person, I can capture the feelings of the moment and the results are generally pretty cool.

For the portrait, I work mainly in digital medium format and in argentic large format (8×10). It is a personal technical choice that brings me a lot of satisfaction and brings me closer to my old influences.

Mon nom est Michel Grenier, je suis photographe et musicien. La photographie est pour moi un exutoire, elle sert à évacuer mes émotions. 

Je pratique toutes formes de photographie, mais ce qui me branche le plus, c’est le portrait. L’aspect social inhérent au métier de portraitiste me plait beaucoup. J’essaie surtout de mettre en valeur les gens que je photographie, ce qui explique la sobriété de mes tirages. Je ne suis pas un preneur d’image très directif et j’aime beaucoup laisser de la latitude aux sujets. En quelque sorte, je m’approprie ce qu’ils veulent bien me donner. Comme la plupart des modèles ne sont pas avares de leur personne, j’arrive à capter les sentiments du moment et les résultats sont généralement au rendez-vous.

Pour le portrait, je travaille principalement en moyen format numérique et en grand format argentique (8×10). C’est un choix technique personnel qui m’apporte beaucoup de satisfaction et qui me rapproche de mes vieilles influences.
